History of King of Kings

Since its beginning as a mission start in 1980 King of Kings has established itself as a congregation of welcome and hospitality.

The theological framework for this congregation of Lutheran Christians was and remains centered in 5 core values.

  • Grace Alone - Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is a gift of God - not the result of works, so that no one may boast."

  • Faith Alone - Romans 3:22-23 "...te righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction, since all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

  • Scripture Alone - 2 Timothy 3:16 "All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness."

  • Christ Alone - John 14:5 "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

  • Priesthood of all Believers - 1 Peter 2:9 "But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's own people, in order that you may proclaim the mighty acts of him who called you out of the darkness into his marvelous light."

The ministry of King of Kings was in the image of a three-legged stool with the congregation as the seat strengthened and uplifted for mission by the legs of worship, learning and service. These legs are held together by a red heart representing Christ. It is Christ that hold us together as we seek to be faithful to our calling in the world. The same components are upheld in our current Mission / Vision Statement:

Vision / Mission Statement

A personal vision was for King of Kings to be known for its commitment to mission and benevolence, "the heart of a congregation is known by what it shares with others."
